Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT)
Superficial radiation therapy uses low-energy X-rays to treat selected cancers in or near the skin surface. The healthcare team assesses whether it is an appropriate treatment option.9
External radiation therapy
External beam radiation is directed at the tumor from a machine outside the body. Planning images help the team determine the treatment area and dose.10
Internal radiation
Brachytherapy places a solid radiation source in or near the tumor. Implants may be temporary or permanent. Your team explains the treatment schedule and any precautions around other people.11
